Before you make any purchase of a manual chair, remember that you may be able to obtain one free from your own doctor. Alternatively, you may be entitled to a Voucher, which in most cases will meet two thirds of the cost of a chair. If you require further details of this scheme, please give us a call.
These chairs are particularly suited to use by more than one person. Nursing homes, garden centres, churches, National Trust properties etc. will find these chairs low maintenance, rugged and inexpensive to purchase. They can be fitted with anti-theft devices. They can also serve as occasional use chairs.

Light Weight
Light weight chairs are not only, as their name implies, lighter than standard chairs but are usually of a higher build quality. Beware of "cheap" imported copies. The materials used on some leave a lot to be desired and the choice of specification can be very limited. Not all imports are like this but caution should be observed.
Occasional use lightweight chairs can be very useful but it is a false economy to rely on these for every day use. One of the most popular chairs is the Quickie S/L or TL. They have been in use for over ten years, are available almost made to measure and have a well-proven track record of reliability.

Comfort Chairs
For those who spend many hours in a chair, a more sophisticated seating system is required. This can be achieved by adding a custom made system or by purchasing a chair built for this use. The advantage of the latter is that a "tilt in space" facility is often standard. This enables the whole seat to tip back, which not only increases comfort but also reduces pressure on seat area, which can help prevent sores.

Specialist
Specialist chairs include basketball, road racing and other forms of sports chairs. Those who intend to indulge in sport mostly appreciate the benefits of these types of chairs but they can be of use in normal daily activities.

Power Pack
We can supply an add on power pack for use on some manual wheelchairs. These can be simply attached to an existing chair and will propel the chair but must be controlled by an attendant. The unit we supply is made in England.
