Warning
You will see many advertisements in the press but bear in mind that most of these companies are national and employ "local" salesmen. To finance the adverts and salesmen, prices can sometimes be increased. Caution should be observed. A commission-based salesman who has travelled many miles can often be very keen to obtain a result. A company who will not send out leaflets first, complete with a price list, should be regarded with suspicion.

Scooters come in many types. Do not be tempted to buy more than you need. Most people will be satisfied with a scooter costing around £2000 or less.
Small
The smallest in the least expensive are the three wheeled. They will pack into a car with comparative ease and are lightweight but they will not climb kerbs, will have a smaller range and are not a stable as their larger counterparts.
Cost around £1000
Medium
Medium size machines have longer range and some kerb climbing ability. They also suit a larger person. They can be fitted with a cabin for weather protection.
Cost Around £1900
Large
Larger scooters are often capable of faster speeds. At these faster speeds they legally have to be used on the road. This is not something we encourage. This is nothing to do with the capability of the driver but more to do with other road users who do not expect to see these types of machines on the road.

Cabins
These are usual of a canvas material with see through plastic for windows. They can be very useful if you have breathing difficulties or need to keep warm. The downside is that vision is reduced and the scooter seems more cumbersome. If a machine has to be stored outside the extra protection can be very helpful.
